Preventative Care

Preventative (Wellness) Medicine = Proactive Care for Longer, Happier Lives

Preventative medicine is a proactive approach focused on maintaining your pet's health and preventing disease, injury, and disability before they occur.

The core components of a preventive medicine program include:

◦Wellness Exams: Comprehensive "nose-to-tail" physical examinations. We recommend wellness examinations at least every year.

◦Vaccinations: No two pets are the same. We provide lifestyle-based vaccination protocols tailored to your individual pet.

◦Parasite Prevention: Year-round protection against internal and external parasites, including heartworms, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites. We have a selection of parasite preventions available to fit your specific needs.

◦Routine Lab Work: Screening tests such as organ function blood work (CBC and chemistry), urinalysis, heartworm test, leukemia/FIV test and fecal exams can detect hidden internal problems and serve as baseline for comparison in the future. We recommend yearly screening lab work and fecal exams.

◦Dental Care: Regular oral exams, cleanings and at home dental care to prevent periodontal disease, which can lead to systemic infections affecting the heart and kidneys.

◦Nutrition & Weight Management: Expert guidance on diet and exercise can prevent obesity-related conditions like diabetes and arthritis.
